Good numbers of salmon are being taken from the St. Mary's river near the Soo and near shore at Cedarville and Hessel. Steelhead and pink salmon are active close to the shipping channel off the Les Cheneaux islands and in the shipping channels near DeTour.  Smallmouth bass and northern pike are being taken near Hessel and around the islands.
Salmon fishing is improving in the waters off St. Ignace and Mackinac Island.
Off Grindstone city lake trout are being taken along with salmon, steelhead and brown trout. Some pike and bass are being taken in the harbor and walleye are off the breakwalls.
Salmon are in the rivers in increasing numbers and are staging in the lakes out from the rivers. The spawning runs should be going strong over the next two or three weeks. By mid October they should be over. Steelhead often follow the salmon into the rivers to feed on spawn. The charter season is winding down and for most will be over by the end of October if not before. A few charter services operate later or even year-round mainly with trailerable boats and in the rivers.

www.musky-guide-resort.com Our fishing has finely perked up on Munuscong bay with this warm weather warming the water. All the people I have talked to are taking good No.s of fish. Pike, Walleye, Perch, Atlantic Salmon, Steel Head, Catfish, and Drum. It's great just to be on the water but even better to bring home some real nice fish to eat and freeze.
